FATHER’S DAY 2011
A Salute to General George Washington ” the Father of our country”
In grade school and beyond, every American learns that George Washington is the Father of the country.
George Washington is revered as the Father of this country for many reasons. Virtually every American knows that he was the first President of the United States of America. Most also know that he commanded the Revolutionary Army. However, many Americans know few of the details about his days as the nation's Commander-in-Chief, both during the Revolutionary War and after.
As the General of the Revolutionary Army, Washington's determination, leadership and refusal to give up made the difference between victory and defeat on more than one occasion. His daring attack on a Hessian fort at Trenton turned the tide in a War that had been clearly going the way of the British--not the Colonists. When the Continental Congress repeatedly found itself incapable of leading the young nation, Washington had to take charge, and take charge he did.
Yesterday I attended the re-enactment of the Battle of Monmouth in NJ.
As General Washington’s Continental Regulars entered the field of battle some knowledgeable person in the audience rang out the comment that the “Fox” was in the house.
The "old fox" was a reference to Washington by Lord Cornwallis, the British commander, when he thought he had trapped Washington and his troops after the first battle of Trenton. Ron Bass, New Jersey
D.A. King: Pro-law Americans turning tide on immigration
by D.A. King, June 17, 2011, The Marietta Daily Journal
Georgia's Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act moves on to its next step Monday in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.
The goal of the lawsuits from the open borders mob is to stop implementation of as much of the law as possible so as to protect their precious but now dwindling commodity: Georgia's population of fugitive illegal aliens, many of whom are already migrating out of the Peach State simply because of the possibility of enforcement.

A comment from the above article: Kathleen3 wrote on Friday, Jun 17
I have admired D.A. King for many years and so hope the people of Georgia realize this man, on no one's payroll, has done more to restore law and order in the state than all the tax-paid elected/appointed officials combined.
I echo Joan Gass and truly believe "What goes around comes around." It is so refreshing to realize Georgia will, once again, soon be restored to a state of law and order. In the process all those radical, anti-American entities who were hellbent on turning GA into a clone of the lawless, corrupt third world countries the illegal aliens left behind will finally realize we will never, ever allow them to succeed.
Every state needs a D.A. King. Let's hope, one by one, the states hire King as a paid consultant so that eventually the entire U.S. is composed of clones of GA and AL.
NumberUSA talks about the proposed Federal E-Verify Bill called the 'Legal Workforce Act'
'Chairman's E-Verify Bill' A Giant Increase Over States-Only Approach In Moving Illegal Aliens Out Of U.S. Jobs
Ever since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Arizona's mandatory E-Verify law, we at NumbersUSA have heard a modest but steady stream of comments from people questioning if it wouldn't be better to skip having a national E-Verify law and stick with state laws to push illegal aliens out of U.S. jobs.
Certainly, we have to acknowledge that we would not right now have the possibility of a national E-Verify law passing if it weren't for the valiant efforts of many state legislators across the nation who -- often with the help of attorney, and now Kansas Secretary of State, Kris Kobach -- fought tirelessly and tenaciously for years to pass E-Verify laws in states while Congress fiddled.
But the goal has always been to use state efforts to force Congress to act nationally.
After all, does anybody believe that the state governments in California, Illinois, New York and a number of other virtual sanctuary states will ever require E-Verify? The only hope for people in those states, which not coincidentally have the largest populations of illegal aliens, is a national law.
Now that U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith has introduced his national E-Verify bill (today), let's try to pin down the real comparisons between what it would do and what state laws are doing (and are likely to do) over the first two years.
Let's start with what is fantastic about the bill -- H.R. 2164, the 'Legal Workforce Act' -- in terms of new hires.

Swing states face immigration fight Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who is widely seen as the nation’s pre-eminent lawyer working on behalf of those seeking to crack down on illegal immigration, predicted that politically moderate states like Missouri and Pennsylvania legislatures will be the next battlegrounds Like Arizona, Alabama will require police officers to determine the citizenship and immigration status in any lawful “stop, detention or arrest” if there is a “reasonable suspicion” they are illegal. The new law also forbids undocumented immigrants from receiving state or local aid, bars them from public schools and universities, criminalizes hiring or renting to undocumented aliens and prohibits employers from firing an employee who is a legal resident if an illegal one is on the payroll. The law will take effect Sept. 1 http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56857.html
Latinos won’t accept mandatory E-Verify Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) warned President Barack Obama on Tuesday that Latinos will not regard as “acceptable” a move to make the E-Verify system of checking prospective employees’ immigration status mandatory for all U.S. firms, as urged by Republicans. Gutierrez, the Chicago-born son of Puerto Rican parents, gave the warning at a telephone press conference ahead of Wednesday’s hearing of the House Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement about a bill to impose E-Verify nationwide. That bill is being pushed by the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Texas Republican Lamar Smith, and Immigration Subcommittee Chair Elton Gallegly (R-Calif.). http://www.mariowire.com/politics/2011/06/15/latinos-won%E2%80%99t-accept-e-verify/
