Illegal Immigration and the Mortgage Mess

How illegal immigration, crime-enabling banks and open-borders Bush policies fueled the mortgage crisis.

But there's one giant paternal elephant in the room that has slipped notice:

Half of the mortgages to Hispanics are subprime (the accursed species of loan to borrowers with the shadiest credit histories). A quarter of all those subprime loans are in default and foreclosure.

The amnesty-promoting National Council of La Raza and its Development Fund have received millions in federal funds to "counsel" their constituents on obtaining mortgages with little to no money down; the group almost succeeded in attaching a $10-million earmark for itself in one of the housing bills past this spring.

It's the tip of the iceberg. Thanks to lax Bush administration-approved policies allowing illegal aliens to use "matricula consular cards" and taxpayer identification numbers to open bank accounts, more forms of mortgage fraud have burgeoned. Moneylenders still have no access to a verification system to check Social Security numbers before approving loans.

Quite simply, Justice thinks local cops should enforce the law; the White House doesn't.

There is every obvious reason for local and state police to arrest suspected illegals, even without the terrorist threat that continues to loom over the nation's head. Just because violation of the immigration laws is a federal offense doesn't mean locals can't arrest people who commit it. Bank robbing and kidnapping are also federal offenses. Would the Bush White House seriously claim that local police shouldn't stop bank robbers and kidnappers if they have the chance?

E-Verify is our major weapon in our battle against illegal immigration.
When E-Verify became web-based later in 2004, 1,533 employers had signed up. As of September 13, 2008, there are 85,816 employers representing over 446,000 sites and over 6.21 million queries processed.
 
The number of employers, signed up for E-Verify, is just beginning to ramp up.  25,000 more employers have signed up in approximately the last three months, making the total number of employers now signed up, over 85,000.    I expect that, 25,000 more in three months rate, to double, if not triple, or even quadruple, in the next three months.  By the end of the year, we could hopefully see over 200,000 employers signed up for E-Verify.
 
Let's all continue to do our part by encouraging more employers to sign up.
 
E-Verify is our major weapon in our battle against illegal immigration.
The laws are closing in on illegals.
Illegals are no longer allowed in-state college tuition based on a CA court ruling just a few days ago.   This ruling effects the nine other states who were allowing illegals in-state tuition.
In the last day, or two,, the Arizona Appeals Court, struck down a challenge by the ACLU, and upheld sanctions against employers who do not use E-Verify to validate employees.
E-Verify is now required for all companies that have Federal contracts, along with their subcontractors.  This should become law soon.
The Governor of Rhode Island mandated E-Verify, and overcame a challenge by the ACLU.
There are over 9.4 million unemployed American workers that need jobs, and that number is increasing every day.
It's only a matter of time before the illegals are going to be out of jobs.
